New Druzys

I'm back on the green juice!

I've cut back on caffeine, Ménière's rules my balance today...anyone else have it? It's a real PITA but not as bad as it could be.

Good news, it's going to rain, and it's a wee windy. I'm hoping for less pollen tomorrow :-)

Birdie feeders are on my fun list of things to do this week.
Oh they will be so ugly, and serve such a beautiful purpose!!!

ewwww...soylent green -- like the movie? ewwww! lol

I drink what I refer to as 'green sludge' every day - about 64 oz of it. YUM! Mine is a green smoothie - spinach and other good stuff -fruit etc.

Hi Care! I do make my own - each morning - I posted about it somewhere -- maybe here:

I use about 2 or 3 cups of spinach and then about 2 cups of water and add some banana, apple, avocado...whatever I have on hand and a little stevia to sweeten it sometimes. They are really quite tastey!

I did break down and buy a ridiculously priced blender..but it was worth it for me since I am eating mostly raw these days - the new blender is really my main food prep tool. I can blend hard squash to creamy consistency in it - I LOVE IT! lol

later - off to baseball skrimmage (how DO you spell that???) and I'm already going to be SO late - got stuck at work....

Thanks for the link. I'd love to make at least one good item per day. Wow you must be in great shape. I'd like to cut out sugar, and the fake sugar. I didn't miss my caffeine too much today...

I'm not sure if Splenda has aspertame, but there's a theory it can set off a bout of Meneire's too...

crikey, is anything good for us? :P

I bought the Vita-mix and started making morning smoothies Dec 9,09, and haven't missed a day! I love them.

Mine are always on the sweet side --

My typical morning 32-36 oz drink:

Pour in a 1/2 - 1" of OJ
handful of spinach
1 banana
1 apple
5 baby carrots
1 stalk celery
good size leaf of romaine lettuce
med kale leaf
3-4 chunks of broccoli
5 frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
2 tbs fresh ground flaxseed
(off & on)
3-4 ice cubes
a little bottled water to thin it out (if im not in the mood for thick)

Now that's my "typical"
I do change it up now and then.
I don't measure anything - those are all approx amounts.

2 weeks ago, I started making one for my late-nite drink,(roughly 20oz) using 4 of the above (or something else).

Try adding frozen fruit for yr sugar, instead of the other.
Taste a lot better; and better for ya :)

Eeep Stormy you are a gem! you notice an overall difference in how you feel? (the green drinks I buy are super pricey) imho...

(2nd day of decaf) wa-hooo- yeah...:P

Yes Care -
The first 2 weeks I started drinking them, Jamie said I was a mood was unreal, so happy with 2 much energy!

I was like a different person *energy-wise*, it was hard to believe!
After that I came back down to earth, but still had more energy than I'd had in a long long time.

Those first 2 weeks, I wasn't putting in so many veggies, being new to it and all.
More like spinach and celery, with frozen berries and a banana and ground flaxseed. After that I started going crazy adding more greens.
I lost 10 lbs in the first 1.5 months - I didn't want to do that!
I was 130 and liked it - now I gotta try and gain it back. Menopause has a little to do with it though. ick.

I never thought we could swing buying so many fruits & veggies;
but once we tossed all of the processed stuff out of our kitchen and stopped the red meats, it wasn't so bad after all.

FTA - I had some serious brain fog going on for over 2 years ~ once i started these smoothies - GONE!
Totally gone.
