Back from a Lovely Day Off

Happy End of Month! Spring is getting closer!!!

Hello out there! :-) I can say I'm ready to rock and solder! (get it? pretty lame joke eh?) Yesterday i watched 4 movies back to back, that's one of my ideas of really letting go - zooming in - and vacating my normal daily life. I still managed my daily chores, but those hours of movies were pretty sweet.

Want to know what I watched? (you know I'll just tell you anyway, I'm like that...:O)

The Changeling <---1st time
Smart People<---2nd time
The Hours<---6th time
Bourne Identity<----lost count (in fact I fell asleep right after Bourne got in that awesome little original mini in Switzerland)

I have stacking ring orders to get out, YAY stacking ring orders, I love all and any Etsy orders!!!

For Sally my lil torch I use at home

For all DH's out there, heed this warning!!!

2 New Rings for AutumnLeavesJewelry Shop

Chunky Unky Oval Turquoise Ring

Mexian Crazy Lace Agate Ring

I'm really happy with the shapes and bands I chose, the bezel work and all that, i'm just not thrilled with the pics. More tomorrow, I'm still gonna list them in my Etsy shop because I believe I have 2 very good ones of each, just not all 4 pics are too great.

Hoping to be able to sleep through the night later...just can't nap, maybe it's Spring Fever?

Two Bean Tamle Pie with Real Photos of my Dish (warning!)

Mmm mmm I wish you could smell my house! I actually cooked dinner. By no means have I ever been a very good cook, baked goods, yes, real food, nah. show my lack of know-how in the kitchen I have substituted several of the ingredients from the recipe. :p

Green peppers make me burp (they did not used to) :-/ So I used fresh red pepper :-D
We have no Tamales, so I uhhh...I used Picante Sauce, I'm not sure what Tamales are, hot tomatoes or peppers?
You get the idea, mainly it's the basic recipe, and the family seems to like when I make this dish, I just love fresh onions, garlic and red pepper! MMMM, atop the fake-tamale pie is corn bread, ooo and it's baking now!!!

Other meals I CAN make are -
Awesome home made pizza (dough and all)
Home made mac and cheese
Home made lasagna
Tuna Casserole, which I NEVER make because hubby just hates it so much
Gosh I'm getting into the canned/frozen arena now...I'm very good in that area. Oh well...
ooo my tuna melts with tomato soup are killer, even if the soup is Progresso.

Hubby didn't marry me for my cooking abilities, for sure. (I still have no idea why he married me)

Fresh from the oven, notice the difference between my pic and the photo from the cook book. The corn muffin mix baked INTO the pie, not above, hmmmmm...interesting, any help/tips would be great...

Cabachons for the Shop to be set this week

Here's a sample of some of the pretty stones I bought yesterday at the gem show in our area.

As you can see I found a few really pretty sets which I'll be making into earrings. The center white stone is not turquoise, its Howlite, I LOOOORVE this stone! It has the old aged look.

If there are any you would like to reserve in my Etsy shop please let me know I'll make the earrings, and/or ring for you this week.

Thanks for peeking! :-)

Gem Show Day Cha Cha Cha

omgosh can I just tell you I'm trying so hard not to blow all my energy before I enter the doors to the glorious gems for sale? EEEEEEEEEEEEK!

Johnny (Dad) told Angelica (our daughter) she could pick out any stone she likes, and Mom (me) would set it for her. I piped in and said "and Dad will vacuum the house" it didn't take, it's not vacuumed. He pretended to do taxes all morning then golfed.
My friend Linda is coming over, and my daughter Angelica will be going to the show. Okay, here's where I'm already stuck. Should I quickly vacuum the downstairs before I make breaky? (welcomd to my world)
First I'll make French Toast for us ladies, along with fresh strawberries and/or grapefruit (your choice). Coffee, tea, whatever wakes you up. Then...we move on to the show. After reading Sally's post about this being the moving Tucson Gem Show I realized, doh, this is the Tucson Gem Show moving around the country. Okay, how do they do it? All those people, all that metal and little rocks, lil calculators, move about the country? How how how? <----see? My energy level needs to level out a bit.

Johnny will represent us at church (not our church, we don't really have one, that's another story) but our niece and his sis will be performing at their church. He's picking up his Pa and heading out in a bit for the service. I'm sad I'll miss lunch with everyone. I'll miss Marty and Brenda too! In real life, not just facebook :-/

Pics later, oh you poor people who look at my vlog, yes pics of the French Toast, I looooorve to make breakfast!!!

Then pics of rocks or shiny things, or whatever we end up with after our return. Ooooooooo la la. (and it's all for me to SUFFER MY ART to sell in order to buy more pretty things to SUFFER MY ART and sell, etc...)

Please Pass the Ingot and Which Way to the Gem Show?

I spent the morning getting a few lovely Etsy orders out to customers. I'm so pleased a few found a very happy home. My Fracture Ring sold, I was sure I might like to keep it, but there is was in it's little box awaiting its new owner (every now and then I would peek in on it), I hope she loves it :-)

Lisa's ring will go out Monday, I sent the others but I keep holding hers up and looking at it to make sure...WHAT?! It looks great, I hope my shrink never finds my blog.... (it was not pre-made as the others were) Can we say OCD? Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ugh! I keep thinking if I do just a little more (there's nothing more to do) it will be just perfect. Please tell me to stop Candace!!!

I've ventured back to basics and turned to the several ingots I've made over the past couple of years. Some are pretty big...I've only actually annealed and rolled and annealed and rolled (rinse, shampoo, repeat, etc...) one into a sheet of silver. These ingots are very oddly ugly yet captivating. I've sawn into one and found such gorgeous delights. The marks made by the very thick saw blade are pretty. The shape is organic and I've used it as a focal point in a silver ring. Oh the silver! The ingots were made with that big scary torch tip, big oven mitts, a crucible, and a steady hand. (oh and the removal of all that slag...freaky) I'll get photos later when I have more made. Right now I'm just playing and enjoying simply being creative.

Tomorrow my daughter and a friend of ours will be hitting the big Gem Show in our area. (I think Kelli of MSIA went yesterday) OOOO it's going to be like a gigantic candy shop. I MUST limit my spending so hubby does not grow more gray hair. It's going to be wonderful to pick up a cab and really examine it before buying. (I've had ALL good luck from EVERY ETSY shop I've purchased from!!!) :-) But just being near the stones will be wonderful.

Maybe I'll get some pics. I do feel my face is a bit over-exposed on my blog right now :o, oh and that schnoz of mine, sheesh!

New pics of Latest Rings on Hand Model

Better veiw of Big Yellow Taxi Ring, it really pops...

My Mexican Fire Opal is SOLD! :-)

oh what a difference a nice hand makes!

Big Yellow Taxi Ring

This ring reminds me of that old Joni Mitchell song. The stone is from GemCutters shop on Etsy, I spent yesterday making this pretty. She's definitely a large statement ring. The little turquoise helps the yellow in the white of the stone pop. As does the liver of sulfur.
What do you think?
I'm listing it soon.
She's an 8 1/4

Give Away Drawing for Petite Tomboy Spinner Ring from my lil shop Just add your name to this Post to Enter Drawing

Take a chance and treat yourself or someone you love to this free ring. (If I draw your name) Odds are sweet!

Love is in the air (February is the month of love right?), and some of our pockets aren't as full as we'd like them to be. I currently have zero Etsy orders (which is rare) so I thought it was time to give something to someone else and spread the love in lieu of whining.

(I'll make you -the winner- this Petite Tomboy Spinner ring in your size when your name is drawn.)

This ring is unisex, I've had rave reviews of it, from both men and women so I hope you add your name and give it a whirl. :-)

Tuesday, February 17th I'll draw a name! Good luck! :-)

14K Gold and Sterling Silver Disc Earrings

I've been meaning to make this pair for months, I plan to keep one pair for myself. THe gold really pops against the darkened silver.
Can't seem to get enough riveting adds a nice layered touch, sort of like a layer of paint.

These each have 14k gold baubles firmly attached with a dimpled background. They are not heavy at all but do feel good on.

You know that happy feeling you get when everything feels right inside of you? When you look up at the starry night and feel content? (Or maybe it's night time and you just had a cuppa hot cocoa and you feel are warm and fuzzy inside) that's the reason behind the name.

For my Lisa (Phoebe Buffay)

Not Too different, but the roots are done and I had a trim (remember I'm growing it out from a super duper short cut!)

New Pics of Pendant and Lariat

I really needed to get these out of the light box prop and onto a person, so here they are they really show the stone and the lariat much nicer. I'm going to add them to my pics on my Etsy shop.

Do you buckle with the weight of the world?

I love this song, I was listening to the origina with Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks while driving earlier, then I recalled this version.

Tax Inverntory Time and Studio Lift

ugh, I really have nothing to complain about since hubby does the taxes. It's all hit by the realization that I need to account for all metals not sold, made, but not sold, made into ingots, awaiting...their next move...ugh. Maybe it won't take long and I'm making a mountain from a mole hill.

Next Project for hubby:
Peg board up near my bench (not soldering area, the other area) Looking forward to hanging all my hammers and things, then outlining them. I am salivating over the thought of marking where every portable tool will go. I might color code too!

Every day to start with a clean bench. (I think it's possible!)

There are still 3 lil 22K Yellow balls I made hiding behind my bench. I will find them!!! i WILL!

Somehow this list gives me that false hope of control and stability for another day...

Fruit- Revisited

Okay, my friend Candace of CGailDesigns said to just wait out the sun and take more pics, well, the sun is obscured by gray clouds. So I did the next best thing, took pics using my light box.

What do you think? I think it's ready to list.
Lesson learned, next time if I want that brilliance to toally shine thru, make a pretty cut out in the back before seating, so the light will shine!!!
Anyway, I still love the piece I'm calling it Fever Dream

Love Note in Metal for Valentines Day

I thought it would be sweet to offer little keepsakes for Valentines Day, or Any Day from my shop.

Here's the first in the series, I'll have more each week, fun fun fun items to make! These are meant to be customized buy the buyer! :-)

New Plume Agate Piece for AutumnLeavesJewelry

Designer cut cab of Plume Agate from Oregon.
Measuring 41X 25 mm, 6 mm thick.

This Plume Agate Pendant can be purchased here

Here she is, I had a challange with the shape of this stone. Though it looks oval, well, a stone is a stone and can be cut and shaped the way it wants. My geologist friend looked at the stone and said it was a very nice cut and piece! I have never worked with it before but was intruiged by the layers within. I left the back open on the bezel, not completely, just a small window so you could see the light come thru to show the intricate layers. It has a look of a bit of calm after a wild snow storm. In the upper left area there are hints of blue sky and below snow covered mountains. I just love the brain wants to see in these stones.

The chain length is adjustable to your size as always.
