To Garden or Solder?

First full day off from my shop and it is sooooo gorgeous outside! My garden out front is overgrown and has been generally ignored. It's not a huge plot of land, in fact it's tiny, but I have filled it to the brim with the following (here you will see i'm not adept at having a green thumb!)

Day lilies(front, they need dead-heading)

Mums (they normally bloom in fall but mine have a mind of their own, and are getting huge, I didn't realize a mum could turn into what looks like a bush)

Tall white pretty flowers that bloom in early May, then die off till next year :O (need to cut them back)the are white on the outside and have a yellow center

oh and that wild mint smells soooo good! I love to cut a bit just to get the smell in the air!

Pretty row of these firey red tipped (in summer) bushes next to neighbors yard, they have prickly things on them, they need trimming!

Huge Butterfly Bush, my favorite! It's so big and it does need some dead-heading.

Bunch of other pretty little flowers that come back each year, I have no idea what they are.

2 mid-sized azalea bushes, past bloom, need trimming...

Oh and the flox has long past bloomed, it was so pretty this year, it's really traveled and gotten big. I guess I can trim it back to the wooden boarders we have

Fat and tall tri-Hibiscus tree in a container. It's about 4-5 years old. Each fall I bring it inside and each Spring it goes back out front. I would love to plant it out front, not sure if it would survive...maybe I need a larger planter?

Lavender of some variety

Clematis (sp?)

weeds and more weeds, and the ivy from the neighbors i keep cutting back...:P

And my area out front of the house is tiny...

I would love any gardening tips! I guess I need to get out there and start weeding and trimming...

I don't have any gardening tips, cause I kill all my plants! :)
Have fun outside.

Me neither :o)

I am just jealous that you have a garden. I am still renting so not much fun outside for me. We do have a fairly large patch of grass that we can play on but that is about it. I did buy a bunch large planters from IKEA and now I have some sort of green chili, cilantro, dill, basil and a strawberry plant growing on my stairs. No strawberries yet.. We had one coming along pretty nicely, but I found it half eaten outside my front door... Those darn squirrels!

Care- I'm working all day, and its hotter than Hades here in St. Louis (I need to get out to our garden and water, water, water). Don't for get to take that nap for me today! I'm hoping to get some soldering done tomorrow - wish me luck!

Lol Tammy!!! :P Well, I tend to kill our indoor plants :-/
I'm going to try to get a pic tomorrow, right now I have all these paper bags filled with weeds and things out front. I'm hoping they'll magically make their way out of my garden. Maybe gnomes will move them?

ugh the amount of worms was staggering, I know it's a good thing, I just have this gross-out reflex to how fast they move...ew.

Tess at least you can do a container garden! My hats off to people who do that! Sometimes I think it would be easier to let ivy grow rampant and have a container garden up on the deck!

susie, i couldn't nap (too much caffeine today)...but I did read last night for a lonnnnnnnnnng time, and today I got a good hour in! I'm reading a memoir called
'The Night of the Gun'...it's pretty raw...the next book, 'Brooklyn' looks like more light reading.
good luck soldering tomorrow, may it flow for you!!! :-)

btw my tongue is still twitching, but a bit less...I wish I had the guts to vlog it. If i put a lil white tic tac, or a piece of paper on it you could see it. (not that anyone wants to...)

Has anyone heard from our Lisa who drove way down to SC???

Ahh - I love gardening. Took a break a couple times today to get outside and just mill around the yard.

I don't think I'd risk planting the hibiscus outside. I have one as well, and bring it in for winter just like you mentioned.

Sounds like you have alot of pretty stuff in your compact area! Nice!

Hi Carolyn, seems like you have a bountiful 'tiny' garden! I love gardening....it's what keeps me sane!Check out my humble little blog sometimes and see some of my earthy treasures which never stop to amaze and inspire me.
Over here we grow hibiscus outdoors and in summer are rewarded with fabulous tropical blooms.

Enjoy your break!

Doesn't appear that Ms. Lisa has checked in yet. She must be having a wonderful time and we all know she deserves it. Enjoy your gardening and the after math of all your wonderful effort. Hugs, Sal

Maryann how cold is it in Aussie? Omgosh your pins are lovely!!! (and the garden pics!)
Bella Jaim I'm not advanced enough for tomatoes, but it does sound yummy...we had bamboo once outside our old house and it grew like weeds! (outside not inside) :P
oh Dana it is way too packed so it looks bad, I'm going to really cut the butterfly bush back later today, and remove some things that are just out of control! I hope you are staying afloat with all your Etsy orders!!!
Sal! I bet Lisa really needed a break eh? My aftermath is the house is a mess and my upper back hurts (age) ! :P

I used to have a bunch of flowers & plants in my front yard, but it's really shady so it was mostly ferns & hostas. I haven't done anything this year though. Hopefully, I'll get a job soon so I'll have money to start working on it this fall.
