I want to reopen a few days early so that I can list my latest pieces for you :-)
Finally I've set up ...
A real work schedule for myself:
The shop will be closed 2 days a week and I'll be shipping orders 3 days a week. this will allow for me to rest, rejuvenate and create pieces in a not-so-crazy time schedule.
It's been a fantastic week off here in the Outer Banks of North Carolina where the stars shine and twinkle each night in an unbelievable display of awe. The birds sing their secret songs and I like to pretend it's a special greeting for us humans who have come to visit their land. Waves continue to crash along the shore, infinite in their movement and repetition, inviting the weary visitor to pause from action long enough to be still and feel their pull.
Emily Dickinson wrote
‘The Brain is wider than the sky’
and now I believe her...it doesn’t scare me anymore to think of things beyond that we cannot ever understand the moment we demand …
I'm looking forward to getting back to my studio to anneal, bend and forge metal into creations from within and from the beauty around me.

Sounds like you have had a wonderful, restful time and ready to get back into the groove. I like your idea of a work schedule...something I too, should consider.
Good morning Care! What day are your driving back to DC? It seems that the week has gone by so fast. I stuck to my word and set up hours for work and all of the other extracirriculars. It feels great! Thanks for your words yesterday.

lub u too Lisa! *smoochie* I'm glad you set up a schedule! I can't wait to see what it's like to really walk away when it's time to walk away...and believe it will all be okay the next day! :-)
can I just tell you we went out for breakfast for the first time...this week, and i ate the WHOLE huge plate of French Toast, the bacon...all the orange juice. Then we bee-lined it over to the coffee/book shop and I had a cuppa. We're back now and my tummy might explode. I really fear it might...Haven't had that much bread in one sitting in a while...o...m...crikey! It's also made me feel really really sleepy, all those carbs...ugh...
I got Curtis Sittenfield's 2nd novel and can't wait to sink my teefs in, it's as thick as a juicy steak. Her first book 'Prep' was outstanding.
still gotta get to the fire/police dept to buy tshirts to support them...just too...sleeeeeppppeeeeeyyyyyy
kay nuff babbling from me. I need to go open shop and list some items weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Aren't vacations wonderful to say nothing of a reality check. I set up "office" hours recently as well. If we don't stick to some kind of schedule we will explode with frustration and stress. I read several great articles on just this subject and the advise was also to not even check emails after "hours" to make your body realize it is on a schedule to say nothing of your mind. Good for you and Lisa for doing this - I could see it was greatly needed as the stress levels just kept growing:>} Hugs to you both and all metalsmithers - let's go get some serious creating done:>}
(((Sally)))Well stated! A glass of vino in your honor later! (maybe, I think my tummy has enough!) :P
She's back in the saddle again! Sooo good to have you back Care, rejuvenated and refreshed!
I wish I could set up set work hours, but I fear that will never happen intil jewellery pays enough of the bills that I can quite ye ole day job!
hugs
Jaim
